Welch Packaging currently seeking an IT Manager in our Elkhart Location.


Improve overall business performance by applying current networking technology and an effective help desk process.  Provide leadership and direction to the Welch IT network and software projects identified by the company.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Plan and communicate the information networking technology capabilities and alignment to the Welch business strategy. This includes aligning current IT infrastructure to the needs of the business as well as recommending alternative solutions.
  2. Lead certain projects as identified by the Director of IT. These may include: Implementing interfaces between systems, system implementations, network installs and other project management assignments.
  3. Assure the IT department is providing excellent customer service and capabilities to all businesses through the Help Desk.
  4. Evaluate and implement internal controls and assure the business is provided training around high exposure items like Cybersecurity.
  5. Manage vendor relationships with partners in key areas like hardware procurement, networking, wireless phones, print management and others.

Supervisor Responsibilities:

Responsible for the management of the IT network including the help desk and overall IT infrastructure. The IT Manager will be a direct report of the Chief Technology Officer and will manage the IT network and the help desk technicians.


1. College degree in Engineering, Business or related fields. 

2. Excellent computer skills. 5 years of managerial experience in a manufacturing setting. 

3.Excellent problem solving and leadership skills. 

4.Strong knowledge of safety systems, manufacturing process and flow, and delivering business results. 

5. Ability to speak effectively before groups and managers and employees. 

6. Basic skills-ability to read and write English, ability to read a tape measure and perform basic and more complex mathematical calculations. 

7. Must have working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities. 

8.Must understand cost issues, estimating and performance improvement.

Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials during the workday. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 25 pounds for files, computer, printers on occasion.

The performance of this position requires exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as Safety Glasses with Side Shields, mandatory hearing protection, and steel toed shoes. Primary environment; ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
