Position Summary

Produce quality products efficiently in a clean, safe, organized work environment with engaged associates.


  1. Work safely at all times, following and enforce all accepted company safe work practices.
  2. Ensure through training, observation and monitoring that all production employees are working safely at all time.
  3. Ensure through training, observation and monitoring that all product being produced is of acceptable quality standards with a goal of 100% perfection.
  4. Ensure clean machine and Work Areas.
  5. Be able to read the dry end and wet end run schedule.
  6. Be able to perform all job tasks on the corrugator.
  7. Be able to perform all Quality testing and functions.
  8. Ensure that all Operators are properly performing their assigned function in accordance with their Job Description and Standard Operating Procedures
  9. Ensure that all Operators have the proper training for the job they are performing.
  10. Operate the corrugator according to Plant operating culture and principles.
  11. There may be a time that you will be ask to perform a task for which you have not been fully trained, if that is the case you are still expected to perform the task to the best of your ability. Agents of the company will not ask you to do anything unsafe, immoral or illegal. If you are unsure the proper way to accomplish what is being ask of you, ask for assistance and training.

Functions and Activities

  1. Monitor and enforce all company rules and safety regulations.
  2. Ensure that the all positions are properly manned for the product that is being produced.
  3. Check, monitor and enforce all Quality Standards including proper unitization and tagging procedures.
  4. Make sure all Mill claims (ACR's and QIR's) are documented and the paperwork properly filled out and forwarded to Paper Purchaser with instructions to file with the Mill.
  5. Manage the Roll Hold Area.
  6. Give breaks to Control room and other operators as needed.
  7. First responder in case of Employee accident / injury.
  8. Direct Daily Shift / Safety Meetings.

  12. Make sure all mechanical issues have been reported and service request have been filled out and forwarded to Maintenance.
  13. Ensure waste is tracked properly
  14. Plan cleaning schedule for Shutdown and PM.
  15. Work with Customer Service, Shipping and Quality departments on Overrun, Underrun or scrapped sheets/units.
  16. Monitor and check job performance of Control Room Operator.
  17. Monitor and check job performance of all other Operators as needed.
  18. Provide OJT as needed
  19. Before the start of the shift inspect production floor for cleanliness and proper stocking and report findings to previous shift.
  20. Ensure that all areas are clean and properly supplied at shift changeover to ensure the success of the oncoming shift.
  21. Work with Sheet Line and Shipping to correct all issues in the rework area in a timely manner and ensure that no rework issues carry over into the following shift.
  22. Ensure PM and Cleaning functions are being properly performed through the shift.
  23. Work with Shipping to correct any mistakes and unitize loads to maximize trailer loading.
  24. Work with the Wet End to make sure all paper is staged in a correct and timely manner and, production quality and speed are maximized.
  25. Provide performance feedback to Operators and arrange for Training as needed.
  26. Review Wet and Dry End run schedule and adjust as necessary.
  27. Run Quantity Variance reports and special instruction reports on a regular basis to ensure that all Special instructions are reported to the Team and that all shortages have been addressed.
  28. When the machine stops because any issue, the Shift Supervisors primary duty is to make sure that all operators are performing their secondary function in a safe and effective way and assist to get the machine running as quickly and as safely possible. This job is often compared to the job of a Fire Chief, it is not your job to do the work, it is your job to make sure the work is properly done.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises plant employees. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; observing and correcting unsafe behaviors; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
