Summary:

Responsible for planning, organizing and coordination of daily human resource administration for Cooper Container II operations with additional focus on key HR projects as required. Leads safety efforts to build and maintain a clean, safe organized work environment and establish "Safety Culture". Coordinates development and implementation of safety measures as directed by corporate EHS Director. Responsible for training, monitoring, communicating and enforcement of safety system and requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for all phases of employment, including advertising, recruiting, interviewing, testing, placement, orientation, training, and development of associates, exit interviews and unemployment compensation hearings.
  2. Oversee implementation of New Hire Safety Training Program (On Boarding) for each new associate; coordinates additional Safety Training as required.
  3. Reviews applications, performs references checks and employment verifications. Establishes and maintains qualification standards for all positions.
  4. Serves as the primary source of contact to facility managers and employees on all human resource related matters.
  5. Responds to employee complaints and conducts investigations into problems regarding work rules, policies and procedures.
  6. Analyzes compensation and monitors performance review process. Responsible for development of Performance Improvements plan for select associates.
  7. Maintains tracking systems for performance reviews, vacations and company metrics such as turnover statistics.
  8. Ensures accurate, efficient and timely completion of HR-related metrics and reporting.
  9. Supports benefits and insurance administration; works closely with Group Compensation & Benefits Administrator.
  10. Maintains strict confidentiality of files, salaries and other information of a business or personal nature.
  11. Works with site Management and Group Safety Director to ensure all elements of the Welch Safety System are followed and all corrective actions completed.
  12. Facilitates the implementation of facility safety program including chairing the plant safety committee, conducting audits and follow-up, and recommending improvements to current processes. Also, will maintain training records for facility and drive OSHA compliance at facility. Member of Welch Group Safety Committee.
  13. Responsible for workers compensation, and management of claims processes and compliance.
  14. Coordinate/Facilitate timely reporting of safety incidents to EHS Director and appropriate management. Leads Incident Investigation process as required.
  15. Stays current of changes in federal, state and local employment laws, and ensures locations are in full compliance.
  16. Comply with company policies and procedures.
  17. Additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Organizational Development or related field required. Three to five years of human resources or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment required.

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple work assignments and employee/outside requests under strict time constraints. Must be capable of working independently and taking the initiative to resolve issues in a timely manner to avert employee morale problems. Good organizational, analytical and communication skills. Excellent problem solving and leadership skills. Ability to read and write English. Solid knowledge of labor laws effecting employment practices. Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR Information Systems.

Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials during the workday. The employee may occasionally have to climb ladders and work from heights. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 25 pounds for files, computer printouts on occasion.

The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas were under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as Safety Glasses (with Side Shields), mandatory hearing protection and steel-toed shoes. Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
