Welch Packaging currently seeking a Class A Driver in our Bridgeview, Illinois location.

The Class A Driver role is a key player in continuing our 100% on-time delivery model. Responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor-trailer or box truck to deliver finished product to customers in accordance with state and federal laws.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety and Compliance
    • Complies with Driver responsibilities as outlined in company DAART program and as required by DOT.
    • Maintain vehicle in accordance to Elkhart Transportation management policy  
  • Service and Asset Management
    • Operates vehicle in a safe and efficient manner complying with company policy and procedures, and applicable state and federal laws.
    • Support on time delivery by transporting loads by established route to proper destination as efficient as possible while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
    • Inspect trailer loads to ensure proper loading processes and it is the correct load before leaving facility.
    • Verify product count while truck is being loaded.
    • Comply with obtaining correct acknowledgement or signature and date for bill of lading and necessary signatures and date; return properly completed documentation to Transportation Manager
    • Comply with performance measures

Requirements/Qualifications  

High School Diploma or GED. CDL A License. Previous tractor trailer driving experience. Ability to read and write English. Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and working with fractions.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and or humid conditions. On the road, the employee may encounter traffic or other hazardous driving conditions.
